How PlayAFK collects, uses and protects your information when you play games, use the AFK rooms and link a Minecraft account.

Who we are

PlayAFK (playafk.com) is operated by Makera Games [legal entity name to confirm], [Registered business address] ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: [email protected].

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: email address, username, display name, password (stored only as a salted hash), year of birth (to confirm you are old enough), and the date you accepted our Terms.
  • If you sign in with Discord: your Discord account ID, display name and avatar.
  • Minecraft link: the Minecraft UUID and username you link with the in-game /link command.
  • Messages you send: chat typed in an AFK room, which is delivered to the connected Minecraft server; support requests, bug reports, feedback and DMCA notices.

Information collected automatically

  • Play activity: which games you open, when sessions start and end and how long you play; favorites and likes; leaderboard scores and achievements.
  • AFK activity: when you are in an AFK room, heartbeats every 30 seconds including whether the tab is visible, minutes credited and shards earned or claimed.
  • Technical data: a random device identifier stored in your browser, a one-way hash of your IP address (we do not store the raw address), browser type and screen size in bug reports.
  • Cosmetic arena position when you walk the 3D arena (never used for rewards).
  • With your consent only: analytics events (page views, game loads, gameplay starts) and advertising identifiers set by our ad partners.

How we use it and why (legal bases)

  • Run your account, save progress, show favorites and recently played games — performance of our contract with you.
  • Credit and deliver Minecraft rewards, prevent duplicate claims, detect multi-accounting and bots — contract and our legitimate interest in a fair economy.
  • Relay your chat to the server and apply that server's mutes and bans — contract and legitimate interest in safety.
  • Answer support requests and handle copyright notices — legitimate interest and legal obligation.
  • Measure and improve the site (analytics) and show ads — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Cookie settings.
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms and protect users — legal obligation and legitimate interest.

Who we share it with

  • Minecraft servers you connect to: your Minecraft UUID and username, chat you send from the web, your web presence (shown in the server's player list) and reward claims. Each server is run by its own operator under its own policies.
  • Game developers: aggregated, non-identifying statistics about their games. Games run in a sandbox and cannot read your account; they only receive a username and an anonymous ID if you are signed in.
  • Service providers acting on our instructions: hosting, databases, content delivery, email, error monitoring and analytics.
  • Advertising partners, only if you consent to advertising cookies.
  • Authorities, when required by law or to protect someone's safety.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising without your consent.

How long we keep it

  • Account data: while your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of closing it, except records we must keep by law.
  • Game play sessions: 90 days; aggregated statistics longer, without identifiers.
  • Analytics events: up to 13 months.
  • Ad events: 30 days.
  • AFK room chat: the most recent 200 lines per server.
  • Reward ledger: kept for the life of the account so balances and claims can be audited; it cannot be edited, only corrected with new entries.
  • Support tickets: up to 24 months.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict some processing, and withdraw consent. California residents can also opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither without consent). You can unlink your Minecraft account on your profile and change cookie choices at any time from the footer.

To exercise a right, email [email protected] from the address on your account or use the contact form. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

PlayAFK accounts are for people aged 13 and over. We ask for year of birth at sign-up and refuse younger users. Guests can play without an account; we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

Security and transfers

Passwords are hashed, IP addresses are stored only as hashes, traffic is encrypted in transit, and messages between our servers and Minecraft servers are signed. Where data is processed outside your country we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Changes

We will post updates here and change the "last updated" date; for material changes we will notify you on the site or by email. Effective October 31, 2026.
